Call for Comments Survey

The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) appreciates your participation in this Call for Comments on the Standards for Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs – Practice Doctorate. Feedback from the COA’s stakeholders is critical in determining the need for changes in the Standards.

In the survey that follows, you’ll be asked to rate the interpretability of the Standards and Clinical Experience requirements, indicating whether each one is easy to interpret (‘1’), somewhat arbitrary (‘2’), or subject to various interpretations (‘3’). Similarly, the survey will request an assessment of whether each Standard and Clinical Experience requirement is crucial (‘1’), desirable (‘2’), or of modest value (‘3’) in preparing competent entry-level nurse anesthetists. Please note that responses of ‘2’ or ‘3’ will require you to add a comment explaining your rating.

It is anticipated that the survey will take approximately 45 minutes to complete in one sitting; however, you’ll have the ability to save your progress and return to the survey via an emailed link. Respondents are advised that due to the large size of the survey, it has been broken into two sections: one containing Standards ‘A’ through ‘F’ and a second containing Standards ‘G’ and ‘H’, additional Standards for Practice Doctorate Degrees for CRNAs, and all Clinical Experience requirements. Please note that once you’ve started the second section, you won’t be able to return to the first survey section to edit your responses.

As a final note, the survey includes the text of the Standards and Clinical Experience requirements only. You should have a copy of the Standards on hand as you complete the survey in order to reference footnotes and Glossary definitions.
